"Our district deserves an effective leader who will advocate for the local transportation investments that will get our community moving again. I'm excited to bring my private sector experience to the table to provide North King and South Snohomish with some much needed relief," said Guy Palumbo. “My record of public service to our community has proven that I am focused on fighting for solutions, rather than getting bogged down in partisan politics.”
After a career working in technology at Amazon.com, Guy now owns and operates Roscoe's Ranch (a dog boarding business) in the unincorporated area near Maltby.
He also serves his community through a number of elected and appointed positions. In 2013, he was elected to be a Fire Commissioner for Snohomish County Fire District 7. In that role he represents 77,000 constituents and oversees a $30 million budget. He was appointed to the Snohomish County Planning Commission in 2011. For the last 2 years he served as Chair of the Planning Commission and presided over the 2015 Snohomish County Comprehensive Plan update. In both roles, he has made increasing the accountability and transparency of government a top priority.
He is also a member of the Bothell Chamber of Commerce and is on the Board of Directors for the nonprofit ‘OneBothell.’ During the 2015 legislative session, Guy created a grassroots movement focused on fixing the transportation problems on RT 522. The group was successful in securing $10 million in funding from the legislature.
"We have so much work to do to reduce traffic congestion and increase mobility for people and freight along I-405, SR 9, SR 527 and SR 522. I am proud of my work as a private citizen to lobby for new transportation investments. However, I believe we need a full time champion in Olympia if we are really going to get this done," added Palumbo.
Guy and his wife Rena have been together for 23 years. They live in Maltby, WA with their three children. He is thrilled to have the endorsement of Senators Reuven Carlyle, Mark Mullet and Jamie Pedersen.
