From Republican to Libertarian, Michele Darnell knows the switch is a bold and gutsy move. But she wants to follow her heart and fight for what she passionately believes in. “I am socially accepting and fiscally conservative,” Darnell says, as she reveals her sentiments on why she is running as Libertarian in the 2016 Election.
“I’d like to see the government out of our bedrooms, out of our businesses and out of our way to get things done. Being a Libertarian gives me the freedom to say things as I see them. Libertarians are not accountable to special interests because we place more value on individual rights,” says Darnell.
“We need true leadership that will unite instead of throwing out political red meat to the masses; leadership that inspires and considers the next generation rather than just the next election,” says Darnell.
Darnell seeks to champion tax and regulatory relief for small businesses; they employ 52% of our work force and they are deeply vested in our communities.
“The Deed of Trust Act must be repealed. It is an injustice to see homeowners tricked into missing payments and losing their homes, because they cannot afford to go to court. As a foreclosure defense paralegal and a consumer advocate for several years, I know that the injustice continues to this day,” says Darnell.
Darnell would end the I-405 experiment. She wants to eliminate the toll all together. To her, commuters already spend longer hours on the road due to decreased number of lanes. She insists they should not be penalized to paying more fees.
“It is not right that only 3 out of 4 students graduate in our state; that only wealthy students have access to the best schools; and that teachers are forced to work in crowded schools for low pay. I support increasing choices in education and would not eliminate public schools. I would improve them,” Darnell further states.
A win in the 48th LD would make Michelle Darnell the first female Libertarian elected to a state legislative office in the nation. Visit www.michelleforthehouse.com and support Michelle Darnell for State Representative 48th LD-L.
