Kirkland Artist Studio Tour, May 7-8

The 13th annual  Kirkland Artist Studio Tour (KAST), one of the largest free studio art tours in Western Washington, will be held Mother's Day weekend, May 7 - 8 from 10am-6pm.

KAST 2016 will showcase 51 artists at 23 home studios, galleries and local businesses. The artists, selected by the Kirkland Arts Center, work in a variety of media, including pottery, painting, jewelry, sculpture, photography, glass, printmaking, fiber arts and mixed media. During the weekend, artists will be on site working in the studios, offering visitors a chance to watch demonstrations, ask questions, purchase original art directly or just soak up the inspiration.

Pamela Rembold, Executive Director at Kirkland Arts Center shares, "This is one of the best ways to spend an arts focused weekend connecting with community and getting inspired. We are excited to showcase such a talented group of artists, including some new artists and studios this year."

The best place to start the self-guided tour is at the Kirkland Arts Center (620 Market Street), where free maps are available. Many studios are within walking distance of each other so you can stroll from one location to the next or hop on a bike. Add in brunch or lunch at a Kirkland restaurant, and you've just created a fun, memorable Mother's Day activity.

There will be free art activities for youngsters in the KAC Skylight Studio on Saturday and Sunday, May 7 -8th. Kids love the hands-on activities, and moms love the personal touch. Free; no sign-up needed.
