City of Kirkland offers free self-serve sandbags to residents and businesses Oct. 1 through March 31

City of Kirkland residents and businesses are encouraged to prepare for wetter weather, including preventing flooding. Sandbags can be used on private property to help prevent localized flooding. The City’s Public Works Department offers free sand and bags at the Public Works Maintenance Center, 915 8th Street and Juanita Beach Park, 9703 NE Juanita Drive. The sandbag stations are located in the parking lots, will be available October 1, 2015 through March 31, 2015, and are accessible 24-hours. The City asks for the “good faith” use of supplies. Shovels are the responsibility of those preparing the sandbags. For questions about the program or to report flooding issues, contact the Public Works Maintenance Division at 425-587-3900.
