Kirkland Performance Center serves up some cultural and artistic variety this september

What do Indian Classical musician Amjad Ali Khan, The Manhattan Short Film Festival and Jim French’s Imagination Theater all have in common? Kirkland Performance Center (KPC), the Eastside’s premier performance venue! The month of September brings a variety of performances for the patrons, some new and exciting but also some fan favorites. According to Jeff Lockhart, KPC’s new Executive Director, “This season will be KPC’s best ever. We’re so excited to feature performances that will appeal to the entire Eastside community.”

 

Indian Classical musicians Amjad Ali Khan, Amaan Ali Khan, and Ayaan Ali Khan present The Sarod Project, a show highlighting the beauty of the sarod. Fans and newcomers alike to Indian Classical music will be swept away by their poetic mastery.  According to Amjad Ali Khan, “Music is the greatest wealth that I inherited from my forefathers; one that I am constantly sharing with my disciples. My father, the legendary Sarod maestro, Haafiz Ali Khan lived for music and has been the greatest influence in my life... I came to inherit from him the legacy of five generations of musicians as naturally as a bird taking to the air.” See Amjad Alhi Khan with his sons and musical legacy at KPC on September 20, 2014 at 8:00 pm. The Manhattan Short Film Festival, an exciting annual film festival, will be introducing innovative short films from around the globe. Your votes for best film are counted along with audiences in 300 cities worldwide! The finalists this year are 97%, Crime, On the Bridge, Shift, The Fall, On/Off, La Carnada, Mend and Make Do, The Bravest, The Boldest, and Rhino Full Throttle. 4 chances to see this global phenomenon! September 27th at 7:00 pm and 9:30 pm, and September 28th at 2:00 pm and 4:30 pm. Tickets are $10.

 

Mystery, drama, and laughter abound with Jim French’s Imagination Theater.  Recorded live at KPC, America’s premiere radio drama series features the stories of Private Detective Harry Nile and tales of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle on September 29, 2014 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $12.
