KPD officers teach 8-week course; Applications due Sept. 18
If you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like being a cop for the Kirkland Police Department (KPD), you might just have your chance. The KPD is inviting residents of Kirkland to participate in this year’s Citizens Academy. The Academy will run every Tuesday night from 6 to 9 p.m. beginning September 30 until November 18, 2014 and is designed to give Kirkland residents a working knowledge of the Kirkland Police Department. The instruction is comprehensive and covers Investigations, K-9, Special Response Team, Firearms and Taser. Instruction consists of lectures, scenarios, demonstrations, and tours and “hands on” learning in many areas of instruction. The instructors are officers and other personnel from the Kirkland Police Department who will instruct in their areas of expertise. The deadline to apply is September 18, 2014 and only 20 spots in the class are available.
