The drop-in Open House will held at Kirkland City Hall, Peter Kirk Room, 123 Fifth Avenuefrom 6 to 8 p.m.  Since the fall of 2013, the City’s Parks & Community Services Department, with support from The Sports Management Group, have been studying the proposal to have an ARC center that would meet the needs of the Kirkland community.  Information about the study is available at, searchwww.kirklandwa.gov/kirklandarc.

Following the announcement last summer the by Lake Washington School District that the pool at Juanita High School would be closing, the Kirkland City Council authorized the study of a replacement facility.   Following site analysis and public input early this year, two primary sites were identified for a possible aquatic and/or recreation facility:  Juanita Beach Park and the North Kirkland Community Center site.

As part of the study, the City conducted a random telephone survey of Kirkland residents in March 2014 which showed that a majority of respondents – about 82% - indicated support for a community center facility.

In recent months, more detailed analysis of these the Park and Community Center sites has been conducted and will be presented to the City Council in September.
