The Lake Washington High School baseball team will play for the 2A state championship Friday and Saturday in Yakima.
The Kangaroos advanced to the Final Four with impressive victories last week over North Kitsap and Archbishop Murphy, a Catholic school in Everett. The Kangs beat North Kitsap 13-3 and Archbishop Murphy 10-0. Both games ended early under the 10-run "mercy rule" in high-school baseball.
LW will play Tumwater at 1 p.m. Friday and the winner will advance to play the Ellensburg-Anacortes winner for the state title on Saturday. The losers play will play for third place on Saturday.
This is LW's second and final year as a 2A school as increased enrollment has boosted the school back to the 3A classification for the next two-year cycle. The LW girls' swimming and diving team won the 2A championship in the fall of 2012.
