Kirkland Nourishing Network is working to help feed some of the "neediest of the needy" in Kirkland elementary schools over Spring Break. The teachers and school counselor identify these kids and their families.
Previous responses to these appeals have motivated the community into action Last year, the Kirkland Firefighters, the Optimists, Kirkland Kiwanis , Kirkland Rotary, and even the City Council stepped up to support our efforts during school breaks, but we absolutely need your help to make this happen. There are two things we ask you to do:
1. Please take a look at the web site to see if you can help bring a box of food, next week: http://www.mysignup.com/springbreak
2. Please pass this information along to your contacts that aren't already supporting food insecurity in Kirkland at this time of year.
Kirkland has a reputation stepping up to help its own. The area where we are helping has the highest concentration of low-income families in Kirkland, Bellevue and Redmond combined.
We are working with Hopelink and Pantry Packs to get connections to on-going support and aid to move to self-sufficiency. That will take a long time, so we are working with existing gaps that have been identified by those that see the needs of these children every day.
This is real need in our community, right now. You can make an immediate difference in the lives of these children and their families.
Thanks for considering these 2 requests. The Spring Break food delivery date is, Thursday, April 3.
