Kirkland City Council moves to Ban Plastic Bags

Last night the Kirkland City Council directed the city staff to prepare an ordinance banning single-use plastic grocery bags in Kirkland and mandating that stores charge five cents each for paper grocery sacks. The ordinance will come back to the council for a vote in the next few weeks.

This move by the Kirkland City Council was described by supporters as "one small step for the environment."

Question: Should we also ban plastic dog waste bags? They too are single-use, or at least I hope they are. :-)
