Crews and dive teams to try and find the body of 21-year-old Javed Khan of Seattle, who likely drowned Saturday night.

UPDATED

The Associated Press is reporting the following:

A body found in Lake Washington could be the man who went missing last weekend in the water off Kirkland.

The King County sheriff’s office reports a boater spotted the body Thursday morning about 500 yards off Juanita Beach.

It was turned over to the King County medical examiner’s office for identification.

Twenty-year-old Javed Khan went underwater Saturday near a friend’s boat and didn’t come up. Divers searched for the body but were hampered by water weeds up to 15 feet tall.

KOMO News has detailed the sad story of the young Seattle man who disappeared while swimming in Lake Washington on Saturday. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Khan family.

KING 5 News is reporting that the search resumed Sunday for a Seattle man presumed drowned in Lake Washington’s Juanita Bay.

Police and divers searched for 21-year-old Javed Khan on Saturday night, where friends saw him go under and never resurface. Khan’s father, Mohammed Feroz Khan, told KING 5 his son was observing this first day of Ramadan, Islam’s holy month of self-purification.

“He got up with me in the morning, we both ate together, after prayer we go to bed. After daytime he got up, said he was going out, he’d be back, and he had a little backpack and he walked off, that’s all I’ve seen of him,” said Mohammed.

Kirkland Fire Dept. and other agencies search for a man missing in Lake Washington. They shared that final meal and now his father wonders if not eating or drinking all day made his son too weak to survive in the water.

“It makes you a little fatigued, no water, when you’re fasting you don’t drink any water or food, no nothing, from sundown to sunset,” said Mohammed.

His father says Javed is an engineering student at Lake Washington Technical College. His mother and sister are currently in Australia on vacation.
