Celebrate Kirkland, the organization responsible for the many wonderful 4th of July festivities (including the 4th of July Parade and Fireworks display) is in need of volunteers. Please contact Armene Wegener, volunteer coordinator, at  armenew@gmail.com and sign up to help out. This year’s theme is “Red, White, Blue and Green all over – reduce/reuse/recycle”.

Being a part of this event is so rewarding. Kate and I helped out last year and we had a blast. Just a few hours of your time will really help our community to put on our biggest show of the year. And your help is truly needed.

The schedule of events is below followed by a call for volunteers by Celebrate Kirkland.

for the

Kirkland  2009

4th of July  Celebration

You only have days left to sign up to help for the 4th of July!!  Don’t miss out on being a part of history – it’s the 10th Anniversary of the Celebrate Kirkland Family Fourth of July.  If history doesn’t inspire you to volunteer, hopefully the fabulous t-shirt and collectible tote bag will. There are still lots of jobs available for you to choose from:

Wednesday, July 1, 2009
1:00 PM 3:00 PM

Need 6 volunteers. Early prep for the kids and volunteers at The Grape Choice by folding and organizing the volunteer t-shirts, getting all the tattoos, pinwheels and decorations ready for the kids event.

Thursday, July 2, 2009
12:00 – 1:30 PM

We need 6 volunteers at the Marina Park Auxiliary parking lot to put together and “sign” the barricades.

1:00 – 2:30 PM
We need 10 volunteers at the Marina Park Auxiliary parking lot and 5 pickup trucks to put out barricades

Friday, July 3, 2009
12:00 – 1:30 PM

We need 6 people for 1.5 hrs to decorate light poles and put up flags for phase one of decorating. Help us make Kirkland beautiful for the parade! Have a ladder?

1:00 – 3:00 PM
Help make Boutonnieres at the Grape Choice. We need 12 people to make flower boutonnieres for our Veterans, active service members and POW’s. You’ll leave ready to set up your own florist shop.

Saturday, July 4

8:00 – 9:30 AM
Decorate the Town. We need 12 volunteers to join us at 8:00 to put the final touches on downtown with streamers and balloons. Bring a ladder!

10:00 AM – 1:00 PM-ish
We need about 50 of you to be Parade Route Monitors to keep things running smoothly while the parade is going on. We’ll have a quick training session before the parade. This is one of our most important and most fun opportunities.

10:00 AM – Noon

Flag sales We need 9 outgoing people to sell flags.  This was great fun last

year because people were very anxious to have a flag.  No hard selling needed.

You will be placed along the parade route so you will see all the festivities.

1:30 PM – 2:15 PM

Barricade Pick Up – We need 4 people with trucks and 4 people to help pick up. This takes less than an hour and makes clean up so much easier the next day.

Sunday, July 5, 2009
8:00 AM – 9:30 AM

We need 10 volunteers to come and help clean up Marina Park and the Parade Route. It goes quickly and is a great way to rehash the 4th of July stories from the day before.

Sign up now by emailing armenew@gmail.com Will you forward this email to a friend, co-worker or relative who you think might also enjoy getting involved with 4th of July festivities?

Thank you!!
