The Kirkland Teen Union Building will host an event called Turn It Down: an EAR-Responsible Concert. The concert brings together audiologists and musicians to teach concertgoers how important it is to be aware of the noises around them and protect their hearing.

The line-up includes Daphne Loves Derby, Bad Timing and 4th Avenue.

The event is held in celebration of Better Hearing and Speech Month and all funds go toward KTUB and toward funding the trip to the Deaflympics for a long time patient, Tom Guidon.

Additional information is available at Evergreen Speech & Hearing Clinic and in this media release:

Evergreen Speech & Hearing Clinic presents a safe listening concert at the Kirkland Teen Union Building

everhearposter2On Saturday, May 30th at 8pm, audiologists and musicians will unite to bring hearing awareness to attendees of the fourth annual Turn It Down: an EAR-responsible Concert at the Kirkland Teen Union Building. Musicians, Daphne Loves Derby, Bad Timing and 4th Avenue will perform at the safe listening event.

The Audiologists from Evergreen will be on hand to take impressions and create custom molded earplugs. The clinic will be offering the custom earplugs below cost ($95) to allow musicians and concertgoers’ access to these much-needed tools.

Concertgoers will also receive free earplugs at the door, and have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for $1 each that are good for sound reducing products such as custom molded ear plugs, musician in-ear monitors, and iPods with custom molded headphones. Tickets for the event are $8. All proceeds from raffle sales and the door will go toward the Kirkland Teen Union Building, to help ensure that it is a safe listening area along with long time patient and Deafalympian Tom Guidon.
