The final round in the fight for/against Kirkland Parkplace

1

In the days leading up to the Kirkland City Council’s decision to approve or deny Touchstone’s Parkplace PAR, Kirkland CRD’s Ken Davidson took his last, best shot at derailing the downtown development. It came in the form of this letter dated December 5, 2008. Touchstone’s Douglas Howe responded four days later with his own counter punch. These two heavyweights have been sparing over the future of the downtown Kirkland redevelopment project for the past two years. The City Council’s December 16th unanimous decision to approve Touchstone’s PAR was not the knockout punch some may have thought. On January 6, 2009 Mr. Davidson filed a lawsuit against the City of Kirkland and Touchstone. The case will now go before the Superior Court of Washington.

Thanks for posting this. These December communications are very interesting. It certainly sounds like there have been compromises and adjustments to the plan. I mean, how could there not be in a two-year process?
