Kirkland City Council responds to Planning Commission request to Assist with Interim Ordinance
The Planning Commission sent this letter to the Kirkland City Council on October 7th requesting that the Council “adopt a review process that fosters broad community involvement and support and one that can be concluded within a reasonable period of time.” They offered to assist the Council toward that end.
On November 13th, the City Council responded with this letter to the Planning Commission in which the Council declined the Planning Commission’s offer of assistance stating that the Council would likely schedule a hearing before the end of the year and they would welcome Planning Commissioners’ comments.
The City Council states that changes to the Comprehensive Plan are not contemplated and the Council’s intention is “to make the regulations more predictable for the benefit of all those involved in the the development process.”

This letter from the city council appears to be dismissive. Its a month late and says that the planning commission is not needed thank you. I think the council knew what they wanted to do and the planning commission would only slow the process down.
