At approximately 8:00 this morning, a 16 year old male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at 108th AVE NE and NE 53rd Street. The pedestrian was crossing from the east side of 108th AVE NE and was about 75 feet south of the marked crosswalk. Witnesses stated that the involved vehicle was traveling south bound on 108th AVE, and either at or below the posted speed limit. Witnesses also stated that it appeared the pedestrian entered the roadway suddenly, not in the crosswalk, and that the involved driver/vehicle could not stop in time.
Kirkland Fire Department and Police Department Units immediately responded to the scene. The pedestrian was alert, moving and speaking with the aide crew as he was being transported to the hospital emergency room. It is unknown what the extent of his injuries are at this time. The Kirkland Traffic Unit is handling the collision investigation.
