Are you in the mood for some joyfully spiritual music this Easter Sunday? Look no further than St. John’s Church in downtown Kirkland, where the renowned Chancel Choir will be presenting a special musical performance featuring Handel’s masterpiece, Messiah. One of the most widely performed pieces of English-language Chorale works of all time, Messiah was composed by Handel in just 24 days. Although musically structured as a conventional opera, there are no characters and almost no direct speech. Although it has become associated with Christmas performances, Handel never intended it specifically for that celebration. Joining the Chancel Choir this year will be some of the top student musicians in the area. As all who have attended the Easter service in past years can attest, the addition of the talented orchestra musicians adds a depth and majesty to the music and deepens the experience of this most holy celebration.
St. John's, located at 105 State Street, welcomes all to the Easter services at 6:00 am, 9 am, and 11 am.
