Toby Nixon declared winner in race for Kirkland City Council

At 8:30 A.M. on Tuesday morning, King County Elections met to certify the results of the November 8, 2011 general election. Among those celebrating the results is Toby Nixon of Kingsgate/Evergreen Hill who beat incumbent Kirkland City Councilmember Jessica Greenway by a margin of 196 votes. The final certified results will be posted by King County Elections at noon.

The race between Nixon and Greenway was the most closely watched in Kirkland as the other two City Council races were not nearly as close. Nixon took an early lead in votes counted that Greenway was never able to overcome. Also of note were the reelections of Councilmembers Dave Asher and Bob Sternoff.
