[scrollGallery id=193] The annual downtown Kirkland Holiday Tree lighting on Saturday night was filled with carolers, kids, lights and of course, Santa Claus himself. The rather large Christmas Tree in the parking lot on the corner of Lake Street and Central Way was lit at 6: p.m. following two hours of festivities which flowed from the tree and nearby stage along Park Lane and over to Kirkland Ave.
On Park Lane, families enjoyed music, balloon and antler artists, a bouncy house, and warm street fires to help keep off the chill. Merrill Gardens hosted the gingerbread house competition again this year with many fabulous creations on display for the enjoyment of both the young and the young at heart.
The tree lighting event, hosted by the Kirkland Downtown Association, brought visitors from around the Eastside as it is another example of how Kirkland remains a small town in the minds of many. Thank you to all who worked to bring this event to life. You brought smiles to many faces.
