City of Kirkland Councilmember Bob Sternoff has announced he is running for reelection to Position 2. Sternoff has served on the Kirkland Council since December 2005. Prior to that he served 9 years on the Park Board. “ I am proud of my 15 years of service on behalf of the citizens of Kirkland and I look forward to serving an even larger Kirkland”, Sternoff said. He has been recognized for his initiation of state legislation that saved Kirkland over $200,000 in Annexation costs. He also urged the Council to proceed with an in-depth analysis of the Budget process that will include citizen involvement.
During his tenure on the Council, Sternoff chaired the Annexation Sub-committee. He currently chairs the Public Safety Committee and serves on the Economic Development Committee.
Sternoff represents Kirkland’s interests by serving as a recognized leader in the Puget Sound Region. He is on the Executive Board of the Puget Regional Council where he also serves on the Growth Management Policy Board and the newly formed Transportation Priority Work Group. He is in his second term on the Board of Directors of the Suburban Cities Association, representing 37 cities comprising 950,000 residents. He is Caucus Chair for the Growth Management Planning Council for King County and is Caucus Vice Chair to the King County Regional Transit Committee. Additionally he serves as a Board Member of the regional economic development organization Enterprise Seattle.
