Letter | FABULOUS Chinese solution to transportation problems – Why not us??

The following letter was addressed to numerous elected officials throughout King County. The author shares this intriguing concept with our readers. – Admin

Dear  King County  Council and  Sound Transit Board members :

Please consider this!  China will test its first , ‘flying’ bus by the end of this year.  It is intended to reduce traffic jams in heay used roads and highways. HERE ARE SOME OF ITS FEATURES:

  • Each ‘bus’ is 4.5 meteres high. Runs at 60 Km/Hr. Transports 1,200 to 1,400 passengers.
  • COST for 1 ‘bus’ and 40 Km of rail = € 56 million euros, or 10% of a similar Metro.

WHY ARE WE FOCUSED ONLY ON OLD TECHNOLOGY AND CAN’T DO THIS?????

Cordially,

Shawn Etchevers

Buses that don’t slow down because traffic is heavy? Traffic that is no longer blocked just because a bus is loading or unloading passengers? Using green power instead of diesel? Have traffic follow existing transportation corridors rather than meandering through neighborhoods, wetlands, and criss-crossing busy streets while having no specific destinations in mind? Who’d have thunk it?

This reminds me of another Chinese concept/idea about a train that doesn’t have to stop to let on/off passengers:

I wish America could come up with and implement some of these new ideas instead of just watching other countries do them.
