Letter | Larry Springer Campaign

Dear Editor:

My TV has had two candidate political advertisements repeated; Patty Murray for statewide US Senate Seat and Larry Springer for 45th Leg. Dist.  Larry has only one opponent so both go to the fall election.  Did I miss something or is Larry’s campaign flush with money he has to spend?  I am at a loss to understand such extravegance for the front runner in the primary no less when Larry has been known to recycle campaign signs in the past.  I hope this is not indication of how he might spend taxpayer money in the next Legislature; and if it is, I need to rethink my vote for this long time acquaintenance and Kirkland champion.

    Mr. Gregory,

I don't understand your mixed up reasoning on this non-issue. People send Mr. Springer money because they want him to win the election. He spends it for that purpose. Taxpayers “send” money because they have to. Legislators decide (as a group) if or how to spend these funds. Mr. Springer has not been known as a spend, spend, spend legislator. Why would you confuse the two completely different situations? If I lived in Springer's 45th District I'd vote for him because of his common sense, honesty and his focus on the important issues of the day.

Your logic escapes me. People donate to a candidate's campaign. The candidate spends that money on advertising to get his message out. Like it or not, that's our system.

    Strange letter indeed.
