This year, the annual Great Puget Sound Duck Dash, sponsored by the Kirkland Rotary, had the help of both the Kirkland Fire Department and local kids on shore. When the signal was given, the fire hose sprayed the ducks toward the funnel at the far end of the beach. Children waded in and helped throw wayward ducks back into the flock.
