Gee Sam W., you're a sensetive one aren't you? Then again, I'm sure you've been sending little notes to CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, etc. about how angry you are that the term "teabagger" has suddenly become a mainstay in our media lexicon. Mmm hmmm, yeah. Now THERE is a term born from "reasoned arguments". Not the least bit infantile, huh?

Don't bother trying to regurgitate the tripe about tea party members naming themselves "teabaggers". I know that's the "party line", but it's intellectually dishonest to claim a certain group purposefully began referring to themselves as folks engaged in an act of sexual abuse. Then again, you may not be intellectually honest with yourself. I've noticed that does run a bit rampant in these parts.

Take a look in the mirror and whine to yourself. Nobody else cares. I thought Butcher did just fine.

The headline for the blog entry is 'King County Council votes 5-4 to support “Obamacare”'. That's your headline isn't it? You chose the words in that headline, didn't you? And in so doing you repeated the opposition meme. If you did so without realizing it it just goes to show how such loaded terms weed their way into the vernacular.

I'm not talking about the press release headlines.

Hi “Sam W.”,
My how quick you are to attack a headline and to say it is an attack. You say you want reasoned arguments, however, you attack me for posting the two opposing press releases back to back, unedited so they can be compared for their arguments. I will remind you that this supposed infantile attack you claim I made, was using the term “Obamacare” in the title of the article. I did not add any editorial content with the exception of the first few lines introducing the piece which read: “The following two news releases from King County show the deep divide on the County Council with regard to the Federal Healthcare Reform and the impact it will have on county finances.”
I wouldn't call that an attack. In fact, I thought I presented these press releases in a rather even-handed manner. If my intent were to attack, I can only imagine the uproar it might have caused. I guess we will have to agree to disagree.

Well we know where the author of this blog entry stands with his use of the Republican created term of “Obamacare” for the health care reform bill. So infantile to attack a bill by using names instead of reasoned arguments.

I for one am glad that the USA has finally entered the 20th Century and tried to do something to provide health care to all, not just the wealthy and privileged.

King County's “non-partisan” government at its finest. Did anybody who voted for that measure a few years ago really think that the members of the Council wouldn't continue as members and activists from their party?

I see that neither press release properly reminds people that Attorney General Rob McKenna was a Republican when he was on the King County Council, and is a Republican as Attorney General. Attacking a law providing access to health care for millions of Americans is just as partisan as defending it. Can we dispense with the “non-partisan” illusion and have a serious discussion about the difference between the progressive movement and values vs. the conservative movement and values?
