Kirkland Retains Frause to Coordinate Regional, National Tourism Efforts

Kirkland-Water-Color-Everything

The City of Kirkland Tourism Program is pleased to announce the retention of Frause to oversee the City’s advertising, promotion, public relations, and networking efforts.

Frause is a seasoned full-spectrum communications firm with offices in Seattle and Portland. The Frause team is exceptional at generating coverage in all local and regional print and electronic media as well as tourism industry publications and social media outlets. The firm’s client list includes Seattle Southside Visitors Services, the Oregon Economic Development Association (national media relations campaign for Oregon), and the generation of local and national media coverage for the Edgewater Hotel in Seattle and the Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort in Leavenworth, Wash.

Citizens and tourism stakeholders can expect new redesigned tourism collateral including electronic and print event guides, and advertising. Kirkland’s new tourism campaign “WATER. COLORS. EVERYTHING.” will be incorporated into these new materials.

I think the new logo and tag line are silly. Water. Colors. Everything. Really!?!? Explore Kirkland was great but just needed to be updated with a new look and feel.

Agreed, not terribly original – even a town in Texas uses something almost identical. Don’t believe me? Check out the wesite for the City of Lakeway.

Why do we need a regional, National tourism coordinator? i would think this would be funded by the Chanber of Commerce or the Downtown Association.

        What does this position pay?

Given the troubles with Totem Lake, the high turnover of downtown restaurants, and businesses folding or moving to another location, I fail to see the economic benefits of Kirkland public involvement versus each private business and the Chamber doing what they can to survive or expand in Kirkland.

The City does not know the dollar amount of the benefits that Kirkland has or will received as a results of the Frause contract, but they put our an RFP anyway.

Kirkland’s economic development is in direct competition with other jurisdictions, especially Seattle, Bellevue, and Redmond. We are getting the crumbs of other regional programs that have left Kirkland in the dust. Shouldn’t we have a company that looks out for Kirkland?
