Parkplace-Pub-in-KirklandA couple of local boys have opened a new restaurant in the location of the former TGI Fridays at Kirkland Parkplace. The new restaurant is called Parkplace Pub and it hosts large screen televisions and pool tables. We hope that the casual atmosphere and reasonably priced menu will attract crowds to Kirkland’s newest eatery (located upstairs next to 24 Hour Fitness). Parkplace Pub serves lunch, dinner and it has a happy hour too. Check ‘em out!

Is this place family friendly and do they have a website with menu? If yes on both, I’ll bring the family on down!

My understanding (though not absolutely confirmed) is that it’s now a bar/pub. Meaning 21 and older.

the Parkplace Pub is a great place to hang out for the over 21 crowd. They darts, pool and great pub food. Last Friday night it was really fun to go hang out with friends of all ages. Tried and true pub operators, local brothers Eric and Greg Contreras, (sons of Sue and Sants) opened a few weeks ago. It is really a fun Cheers kind of place. The only thing missing for me is a foosball table. Go check it out!!!

    Hello,

I met a group of friends on Thursday night to watch an NCAA tournament game. I was the last to join them. Over the course of the evening I had exactly three bud lights and a red bull. I heard some friends closing their tab with the bartender (who I will get to writing about in a minute) and the bartender had no idea how many beers each person had. They had to tell him. We alI chuckled. i believe they closed out for somewhere around $100 between three people…I can’t say for sure.
Another friend of mine had several beers. I assume he had several before I got there as well. I gave my credit card to the bartender for my own drinks as I was about to leave. My friend disputed with him about how much his own bill was (which by the way was never GIVEN to my friend). My friend joked and said he had about 4 beers (which of course was low) and the bartender said “more LIKE 14″. The bartender had no actual tally written down and simply guessed everyone’s tab. My friend got frustrated, threw some cash on the bar and walked out.
This bartender wouldn’t give me my credit card back. I told him I was an individual who met friends and was willing to pay my tab for what I owed. He said he’d only charge me for my own but said he would hold my card. I never said I was on a group tab. That is my only credit card. He had NO right to hold my card for another person’s tab.
My friends have been loyal and frequent customers at that place for the last ten years+. When it was TGIF we were always given the best service. I have never seen such an unprofessional bartender. He kicked a woman out that night that was being somewhat annoying. However he told her to “get the #%* out”.
The only reason he gave me my card back was if I gave him my friends phone number. He has no right to demand that. I informed him I will have my attorney contact his establishment.
I would appreciate a response from your owner. I was informed by a couple of friends that they were “86′d”. I can say your patrons who frequent there will be very surprised to hear that after over a decade of loyalty would be destroyed because of a dispute with a new unprofessional bartender. I do not approve of this particular friend’s actions. However, I haven’t been back since so I have no idea how I would/will be treated there. I am disappointed because that place has been one of my favorite places to meet friends and watch games. Thousands upon thousands upon thousands of dollars have been spent by our group over the years. I’m sure it’s in the tens of thousands.

    Sincerely,
    S.D.

In response to the previous post, I just want to clear up a few things. I am a bartender with over 8 years of experience in the industry. Not once in those 8 years have I ever had a complaint of this nature.

To start with, my kicking another person out of the bar earlier in the night in a unrelated incident had no affect on the situation the poster is concerned with. I had received multiple complaints from other patrons regarding this person (who was ordering nothing) and I had noticed her exhibiting unusual behavior (talking to herself and circling the bar) and decided it was necessary to ask her to leave. A disagreement ensued and I took the necessary steps to get her to exit the bar. At no time did I touch or curse at this person!

As for the complaints of the poster above. As he said he was the last to arrive. He missed the part of the conversation where I asked the group of around 10 people if they wanted to start individual tabs or be treated as one. They asked to be treated as one group with one tab to be sorted out later. When he arrived he proceeded to order drinks while sitting with and interacting with the rest of this group. At no time did he ever provide me with a credit card or ask to be kept separate from the group. When the majority of this group was ready to leave, they were provided a complete and comprehensive receipt for everything they had ordered. There were no disputes about anything on the tab at this time. Multiple people handed over credit cards and asked me to run them for specific dollar amounts. $20 here, $60 there etc. It is not my responsibility as a bartender to make sure your friends pay the appropriate amount of a group tab. Before everyone left, I clarified that there was still a tab remaining and the last person there was going to take care of the rest. They all agreed, including the person who would later dispute what he owed and eventually left without paying. 9 out of 10 people in this group received great service and left happy. None of them have been 86′d and we look forward to seeing and serving them again.

After his friend left without paying his tab, I asked him to give me his name and phone number so I could attempt to retrieve the money that was still due. It was around $50, which I had to cover out of my own pocket. He refused and said he was only going to pay for the drinks he personally had. I explained that I had no intention of charging his card for the amount still due, (which most bars and bartenders would) but would hold on to his card for the time being until a solution could be reached. He then provided me the phone number, his card was returned, and he left paying for the 3 beers he had. If he had started a separate tab, I would have never held his card in exchange for his friends mistake. When you start as a group, you will be treated as a group until the entire bill has been satisfied.

      Sincerely,

      M.W.

I have been there on multiple occasions since it was re-opened as “Park Place Pub” and have never had a problem with any of their staff. I think it’s a great bar, a nice addition to Kirkland bar scene in my opinion. Everyone had always been very attentive and accomodating.

I’ve worked behind a bar before, and I know how hectic it can be when a big group goes to cash out, especially when they’re trying to split up a check. If the poster’s friend had an issue with what was left on the check, he should have called and discussed it with his friends, not taken it out on the bartender. That guy’s lucky that he’s not getting the cops called on him, walking out on a tab is the same as stealing!

Hubby and I ate there for the first time last Saturday night, about 5:45. The place was virtually empty! I ordered a Southwest Chicken salad and it was, without a doubt, the worst salad I’ve ever had. In the bottom of the bowl was at least 1/4 cup water, the lettuce was disgustingly wet, the chicken, what little there was, was cut into pieces so tiny I could not even taste it … and it was COLD. Hubby had a sandwich which had very little meat and the fries, altho plentiful, were way over-salted. The waitress was friendly, but not terribly attentive. We were never asked if we wanted a refill of our beverages. We frequented TGIF’s and the food was always good and the service always acceptable. These guys should have kept the chef from TGIF!!! We probably won’t go back … no make that we won’t go back … too many other really good restaurants in the area to try that one again.

I have been to the Parkplace Pub on several occasions and think it ’s great. It is a awesome place for you and your friends to get together (pool tables, cheap happy hour, big screens) and have a great time. It is also a great place for a date night since the Parkplace cinema is right below it. Everything is fairly priced and the food is surprisingly good for a pub. Lets just say it is a huge upgrade from Friday’s overpriced food and poor service that we all remember (be honest you know you do). Good for the owners to open up shop and get another good place to eat in downtown Kirkland going, good job guys.

I have NEVER had a pleasant experience in this establishment. I have been there 3 times because a particular group my friends choose to hang out there mostly because it is always empty. All three times we have had the same bartender. He is completely rude. He is probably in his 30's, on the small side with a perma scowl on his face, on a complete power trip and a total letch. My guess is that he has been a bartender for so long that he is completely jaded. Customer service is no where in his mind or vocabulary. He worked himself into our conversations and then volunteered his opinion when we definitely didn't ask or care for it and actually made a comment about how he was going to refuse service to someone based on their physical appearance and their topics of conversation. The food is edible but so is grass. One of the times that I came in with my boyfriend I ordered a chicken sandwich and somehow it came with something that resembled anchovies. When I pointed it out the bartender explained that they were something else that was not even supposed to be on the sandwich. I did not eat the meal and when they offered to make another sandwich I declined. Needless to say, I will not be back.

Great idea, but as it stands it is bad service, food, attitude, and atmosphere . My husband, daughter and I walked out swearing we'd drive far, far away before we'd ever step into that place again.

  9. John Gilday says:

    Hmmmm.

Two highly negative reviews within a couple hours of each other, both women and AR1 describes someone who doesn't even work there.

    Hmmmm.

Does this sound like a single disgruntled ex-employee to anyone else?

  10. AR1 says:

Never worked there. Was there Friday.
