From Liberty 123’s Facebook page:

Farewell letter to our friends,

It has been a wonderful experience sharing LIBERTY 123 with you for the last nine years, but as all good things must come to an end, we have decided it is time to close our doors and are venturing out on a new business endeavor, Covet Interiors. This a bittersweet moment as I write this letter about ending something I have cared so much about and invested so much of my heart and soul into, but I also know that my life will be filled with many wonderful chapters and LIBERTY 123 has been an amazing foundation for what lies ahead.

Liberty123zWhen my Mom, Mary and I opened LIBERTY 123 in October 2000 it was our shared passion for beauty and the unique that inspired us to take the leap of faith. We have always strived to make LIBERTY 123 a store that inspires people to add beauty and character to their own homes in a way that is reflective of their personal style. It has been a joy to share this with you and we feel very grateful that it has been so well received. We have also been very fortunate to have received award winning recognition in many of the top magazines thanks to the support of our loyal clientele.

Last year my parents, sister and her family relocated to Santa Barbara. Upon visiting this summer I was captivated by the charm and lure of the sandy beaches, sun and beautiful architecture… It is very hard not to be! It also was somewhat of an epiphany, I am ready for a change! After contemplating what this would mean and discussing it with my Mom, we both realized that we have enjoyed our partnership and want to continue working together. We will focus our energy on our shared passion, interior design and explore the many opportunities in Santa Barbara. We have named our new business, Covet Interiors. As we have ongoing jobs in both Seattle and Santa Barbara, we plan on offering design services in both locations. This will be an ideal life for me, as I have such a fondness for Seattle – my friends and all it has to offer! Luckily, there is a direct flight, so we will be happily accumulating frequent flier miles. Look forward to receiving our new newsletter titled, Covet Interiors. Our newsletter will include the latest design trends and services that we will be offering.

From my heart to yours, I want to wish you and your families a joy filled holiday season and a prosperous New Year!

Warmest wishes,

Liberty Hanson

Liberty, we hate to see you go. You have been an asset to our community and we thank you for everything you have done. Happy trails.

This little jewel of a store was my favorite spot to shop, visit and pass the time. I will fondly remember the fun conversations with Liberty, Melany, Nancy, Becky, Mary Jane and others that invariably took place at Liberty 123. Very sad for Kirkland to lose such a classy shop but happy for Liberty who is embarking on a new chapter in …sunny Santa Barbara!

    Liberty,

You have always been a valuable part of my goal to have Kirkland filled with artful endeavors. Your whole shop is a work of art. I will also miss our discussions of life and, in particular, my daughter, Courtney who you knew. She always thought it was especially ‘cool’ that a friend of hers had the guts to open a retail store filled with ‘coveted’ items in her home town. Since your store is chockful of ‘coveted’ items, it is most appropriate that you named your new endeavor “Coveted Interiors”. Soak up alot of Vitamin D for me in sunny Santa Barbara. That city is a great role model of a walkable community that Kirkland will hopefully emulate.

A lot of people I speak with are under the impression Liberty 123 CLOSED on December 9th

    THIS IS NOT THE CASE!
LIBERTY 123 will remain open at least 2 more weeks !

Lots of wonderful stull left to dig through so that you find the perfect addition to your home.

Last night was just Liberty’s chance to greet and party with the many friends she’s made over the years.

Best of Luck in sunny SoCal Liberty, we’ll miss you greatly. Indeed, many of the women who have visited my home leave with the impression I actually have taste
HA ! We fooled them didn’t we!
