Goodbye Third Floor Fish Café; restaurant to close after December 19th
The Puget Sound Business Journal is reporting the closure of the long-time Kirkland restaurant.
After 15 years in Kirkland, the Fish Café will close. Pay a visit, say goodbye and soak up to view while you can.
The Third Floor Fish Cafe restaurant at 205 Lake Street South in Kirkland will shut down next month after 15 years in operation.
Restaurant owners cited the slow economy and a shift in business to new Bellevue restaurants for their reason to close the doors after Dec. 19.
“This is definitely sad for us, but we have to make some major upgrades. We hope these next weeks are a nightly celebration,” said Greg Campbell, executive chef, in a statement.
Owners said they plan to remodel the space but haven’t decided yet upon a final use. A private event location that could accommodate 200 people is under consideration.

Agree, this is such a PRIME location, and one of not too many restaurants on the Eastside that offer outstanding views over lake, marina, sunset, etc (Anthony’s, Carillon Point are the only ones that comes to mind).
If rents for this space are in line with “what a restaurant business can carry”, I have a hard time understanding why a dining outfit not would be able to be very successful here.

Definitely too bad. I’ve had some great meals at the Fish Cafe, and the view is incredible. That said, the last couple of times I was there, the place was empty, the service was mediocre and the food didn’t really seem as good as it used to be. It’s possible I just had bad luck, but if my recent experiences were typical of their current performance, I’m not surprised they’ve been having a hard time competing…

We’ll be sad to see the Fish Cafe go- my husband and I had our rehearsal dinner there the night before we got married 15 years ago. It was always our go to special occasion place.

The current ownership has failed to produce a quality dining experience. The economy may have made it worse, but the root cause is average food and poor service.
