Eastside Month of Concern for the Hungry

Food Assistance Needed Now

With the need for food assistance surging, recent food donations have been trending downward.  Proclaiming September 26 through October 24 as “Eastside Month of Concern for the Hungry,” the mayors of several Eastside cities, including Bellevue, are encouraging residents to donate what they can to local food banks this month.  In addition, Walmart and the Eastside Month of Concern for the Hungry are challenging other businesses to financially sponsor the campaign.  Every dollar in sponsorship goes directly to local food programs including Hopelink, Emergency Feeding Program of Seattle & King County, World Impact Network – Renewal Food Bank, Issaquah Food Bank, Mercer Island Food Bank and ARAS Foundation-Sammamish.

Non-perishable food items will be accepted at many Kirkland facilities, including:

If you are looking for a place to donate today, the Cub Scouts, Troop, 550, are on the corner of 116th Ave NE and NE 87th in the Kirkland Highlands. You can bring food donations or sponsor some cases of food for $7-$15.00. You don’t even have to go to the grocery store! The food drive is today, the 10th between 9 AM-2 PM.
