UPDATE #2: Great turnout! The wreaths are down, the lights are packed away in storage and downtown has officially put the holidays behind it. Personally, I’d like to see downtown lit up all year around, but that’s me. Thanks to Starbucks for donating coffee to the cause. We actually has so many volunteers that the job was completed in record time and we finished a half hour before Zeek’s was even open! So we loitered and chatted for a while and then headed for lunch. Thanks to everyone who was a part of this effort. What a super show of community spirit!
UPDATE #1:
WE NEED HELP! What went up (The Lights and decorations) must come down! (hopefully before the crocuses bloom)

What to bring:
- Wear warm clothes!
- Gloves !
- Wire cutters or box cutters ( for zip ties)
- Ladders if you have them.
Look forward to seeing you there! Penny
It’s that time of year again… time to take down the lights and decorations from the holidays. Downtown Kirkland has been festooned from head to toe with beautiful lights, wreaths and garland throughout the holiday season and now it is time put them away for next year. The KDA is organizing what is going to be a fun de-decorating event. It’s called… wait for it… wait for it… De-Decorating Downtown — another great way for friends and family to come together and support our community. So step forward and volunteer.
Coffee and cookies will be on hand to fuel us up at the start and then a pizza party at Zeeks once we’re done. The KDA is looking for about 50 volunteers so plan on bringing your friends and family along too.
BONUS: you’ll get tons of thank you’s and warm smiles from the passers-by too.
Date: Saturday, January 24th
Time: 10:00 AM
Place: Meet in front of the KDA office at 111 Park Lane
Details: The KDA asks you to kindly bring your big ladders and little clippers to remove zip ties, if you have them. Gloves may come in handy as well. If you’re interested in helping, please send an email to volunteer co-ordinator Patty Tucker at pattyjustloveskirkland@kirkland.net. Thank you in advance for volunteering. Hope to see you there!
