The entire Design Review Board, as well as members of the Planning Dept should attend (all of) these lectures.

Hi Rob,
All great and timely topics.
Another topic that is so important for future housing is universal or accessible design. Most of our housing does not consider our aging population and the increased difficulties this population will have with stairs, steps, bath tubs, etc. There are a whole host of modifications that can and should be made in our housing styles and features to be ready for the shift in peoples’ needs. This lack of accessible housing is going to add to future housing crises.

Hi Stephanie,
Thanks for the invite. I will do my best to attend. There are a number of other folks I will tell about this event. Universal design is so critical. We need to spread the word.

Just a note in case you did not see it in the larger posting - the Saturday session is free and is on Taking Action: Advocacy for Livable Cities and is all about how to work with local governments to manage development. Hopefully some people in the community can attend: http://www.aiaseattle.org/node/2066
