Sarah Andeen sent in this Kirkland Snapshot from the crosswalk on Central Way at 1st Street. Sarah also brought to our attention an open house the Kirkland Transportation Commission is hosting regarding proposed sidewalk and bicycle lane projects (see below).

 I am attaching a fun Take it to Make it photo taken crossing [Central Way] at 1st St.  It is not that exciting, but it is just a good reinforcement for people to use the flag and to show how well the program works.  If you are interested in getting a set of flags at a crosswalk near you here is some information on how the program works.

 In addition to the flags the city is looking to improve its walking and bike lanes and is holding an open house - details are below.

Kirkland Transportation Commission Hosts Open House on Proposed Sidewalk and Bicycle Lane Projects                 

Kirkland, WA – The Kirkland Transportation Commission is looking to create a walking network that connects sidewalks to key locations such as shopping areas, parks and bus routes as well as a network of bicycle facilities that connects Kirkland to regional destinations.  Proposed sidewalk and bicycle lane projects will be presented at a June 19 Open House, 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., Kirkland City Hall, 123 5th Avenue.  The proposed projects are part of the City’s Non-Motorized Transportation Plan revision process.
